From here you can check out any of the links on the sidebar to the left such as my photo album or view my résumé (CV) in various formats. I'm still looking for the ideal way to store & edit a document such as this. MS-Word has issues such as incompatibility of formats between versions and the fact that it only runs on Windows & Mac. I run Linux exclusively at home, so I've settled on OpenOffice for now. It works really well and can produce the PDF and RTF versions easily. Unfortunately, HTML and TXT versions are more difficult and the RTF version doesn't always look the same when viewed (or printed) with Word.

Update: I've added a subtle effect from the scriptaculous JavaScript library to my photo album. It isn't a huge difference, but I think it adds a good deal of polish. The effects I've toyed with do not seem to be ideal for my use, so I may dive in and try using the prototype library directly. I had to work around some timing issues to get the fade in/out effect working. If I get some free time I'd like to include several more transition effects, maybe random? As always, the source to the script I use to generate the photo album pages is available from the Projects link.

The site design is my own creation. It makes heavy use of CSS to control the look & feel, layout, etc. A pet peeve of mine is the trend for people to layout pages in narrow vertical swaths. Sure, a box on one side or the other for grouping things like a table of contents is very useful, but when there is much content, you scroll down and most of the browser real estate is completely wasted. Which is why for my homepage, I've defined what I think is a much better layout by simply floating boxes to the left and right. Text flows around them nicely and they don't force you, the reader, to scroll more than necessary. Please feel free to borrow ideas if you like the look I've come up with (not that it's all that fancy at the moment). Send comments, job offers, etc. to russ.pridemore@gmail.com.

As you may have guessed, this page is very much a work in progress, a place for me to experiment with ideas. It seems I always have too many projects that I'd like to work on.
